Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a QR code online?
Open the WebQR online scanner, upload a QR image (drag and drop or choose a file) or switch to the Camera tab and point your webcam at the code. Results appear instantly — URL, text, vCard, Wi‑Fi, and more in a clear layout, with one-click Copy. Scanning needs no account. With an account, save the QR to your dashboard and manage it alongside all your other codes.
How do I scan a QR code on iPhone?
For a code in front of you: open the built-in Camera app (iOS 11+), point at the QR code, and tap the banner at the top.

For a screenshot or saved photo, open the WebQR scanner in Safari, use the file upload tab, and pick the image from Photos — no extra app needed.
How do I scan a QR code on Android?
Most phones (Android 8+) read QR codes with the default camera or Google Lens.

For a screenshot or saved image, open WebQR in Chrome and upload the file — decoding runs in the browser with no install.
Can I scan a QR code without an app?
Yes. The WebQR scanner runs in your browser — no install. Scanning works without an account; to save codes to your dashboard, sort the list, and use folders, sign up free. Works in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
Can I scan a QR code from a picture or screenshot?
Yes — it is one of the main use cases. Upload PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, or BMP: a screenshot, photo, or web image. Results show in the panel (vCard, Wi‑Fi, etc. as labeled fields, not a text blob). Copy in one click or save the QR to your dashboard — it joins your full list with sorting and folders.
How do I scan a QR code on a laptop?
Open the WebQR scanner in your laptop browser.

Upload — drag and drop a QR image or choose a file on the upload tab.

Webcam — open the Camera tab, allow access, and scan a physical code in real time.
How do I scan a Wi‑Fi QR code on a laptop?
Upload the Wi‑Fi QR image to the WebQR scanner. You will see the network name (SSID), security type, and password as separate fields — handy for connecting your laptop without copying from a phone.
Why is my QR code not scanning?
Common reasons:

• blurry or low-resolution image — use a sharper photo or a larger screenshot;
• incomplete code — the full QR and quiet zone must be visible;
• heavy styling or damage — too much of the pattern may be unreadable;
• glare when filming a screen — upload a screenshot instead.

WebQR retries decoding at several scales — try another image or the camera tab.
Is WebQR safe? Are my images uploaded?
Yes, for private scanning: decoding runs in your browser with JavaScript — images and QR content are not sent to our servers for recognition. Nothing leaves your device until you choose Save, which stores the code content you confirm in your account.
What does WebQR offer after scanning?
WebQR is not just a one-off scanner — it is part of a full QR platform:

Save to dashboard — “Save this QR code” after a scan; it appears in QR codes with everything else.
Sorting — by name, date created, and date updated.
Folders — group saved and created codes.

Copy scan results on the scanner page.
Readable results — vCard, Wi‑Fi, and more shown as fields, not raw text.
