What is WebQR?

WebQR is a modern web service for creating, managing, and analyzing QR codes. Our platform provides a complete set of tools for working with QR codes:

  • QR code generation — create static and dynamic codes for various data types
  • Folders — organize QR codes and short links in folders for easy management
  • Analytics — track scans, usage statistics, GPS tracking of scan locations on a map (Business plans and above)
  • Customization — customize the appearance of QR codes (colors, style, logo)
  • Designs and templates — save your designs and use ready-made templates
  • Short links — create short URLs without QR codes, with analytics
  • Cloud storage — store files for dynamic QR (PDF, images, video)

The service is suitable for both individual users and businesses of any scale.

How do I create a QR code?

Without an account you can build a QR code on the public create page (from the home page — Create) and download it: without a subscription, PNG and SVG up to 1024×1024 are available; JPG, PDF, EPS and larger sizes require a subscription.

To save codes in the dashboard, use folders, analytics, dynamic QR with editable content, saved designs and templates — register and verify your email. Then:

  1. Register — create an account on WebQR
  2. Select QR code type — static or dynamic, from 15+ content types
  3. Enter data — fill in the form fields
  4. Customize appearance — choose size, colors, style, logo
  5. Generate code — click the "Generate" button
  6. Download — save in the format and size allowed by your plan
  7. Save in the dashboard — add the QR code to folders for management and analytics

Tip: In the dashboard you can save QR codes in folders, save designs and use ready-made templates, track statistics, and create dynamic QR codes with editable content.

What types of QR codes are supported?

WebQR supports static and dynamic QR codes:

Static (content cannot be changed after printing):

  • URL — websites and links
  • Text — any text content
  • Wi-Fi — automatic network connection
  • Phone — quick dial
  • WhatsApp — send WhatsApp message
  • SMS — send SMS with pre-filled text
  • Email — send email with pre-filled subject
  • V-Card — contact information

Dynamic (content can be changed without reprinting):

  • URL, V-Card, Wi-Fi — same types with editing capability
  • PDF — documents and files
  • Images — photo galleries
  • Video — video links
  • Menu — restaurant menus and catalogs
  • Business — company information
  • MP3 — audio and podcasts
  • Apps — App Store and Google Play links
  • Links — link collections
  • Facebook, Instagram, Social — social media profiles
  • Coupon — discounts and promos

Paid plans: Premium, Business, and Business Plus offer more QR codes, extended analytics (12 months on Premium, unlimited on Business), workspaces (Business), and no ads on the QR code page when scanned.

How do I download a created QR code?

WebQR supports downloading QR codes in various formats:

  • SVG — vector image, scales without quality loss
  • PNG — raster image
  • JPG — compressed raster image
  • PDF — print-ready A4 document with QR code
  • Print — print directly from browser (A4 format)
  • EPS — vector format for professional printing

Sizes: Small (512×512), Medium (1024×1024), Large (2048×2048), XLarge (4096×4096).

Recommendations:

  • For printing — PDF or PNG/SVG at high resolution
  • For websites — SVG (scales without quality loss)
  • For social media — PNG or JPG
Which logo format is best for print and advertising banners?

For high-quality printing, large formats, and advertising banners, upload your logo in the center of the QR code as SVG. It is vector-based, so it scales without blurriness or loss of sharpness. WebQR supports SVG, PNG, and JPEG for logos.

PNG and JPEG remain a solid choice for the web and smaller layouts; for the sharpest logo at any size, prefer SVG when you have a source file.

Is WebQR safe to use?

WebQR provides a high level of security and data protection:

  • Encryption — all traffic uses secure HTTPS
  • Server-side generation — QR codes are generated on the server
  • Data storage — when saved, QR code content and settings are stored in the database, files in secure storage
  • Access control — your QR codes and folders are only accessible to you after logging in

Recommendation: Do not put confidential data (passwords, PINs, full card numbers) in QR codes.

What are workspaces?

Workspaces are a feature for team collaboration with QR codes. Available on Business (up to 3 workspaces) and Business Plus (up to 20 workspaces) plans.

Features:

  • Create a shared space for your team
  • Invite members with roles (owner, admin, member, moderator)
  • Collaboratively manage QR codes, folders, and short links
  • Shared analytics and GPS tracking of scans

Starter and Premium users can be invited to a workspace as members but cannot create their own workspaces.

Technical Questions

Why won't my QR code scan?

Most common causes of scanning problems:

  • Low print quality — blurry or distorted images
  • Insufficient contrast — dark code on dark background
  • Small size — code too small for the camera
  • Damage — scratches, folds, dirt
  • Poor lighting — glare or shadows on the code
  • Outdated app — update your QR scanner

Solution: Use high resolution when printing, ensure good contrast and sufficient code size.

Can I edit a QR code after creating it?

It depends on the QR code type:

  • Static QR codes — cannot be changed, you need to create a new one
  • Dynamic QR codes — content can be edited at any time

Benefits of dynamic QR codes:

  • Change content without reprinting
  • Scan analytics and GPS tracking
  • Edit the landing page when scanned
Can I reset scan statistics?

Yes. For dynamic QR codes, open the QR analytics page, use the card menu and choose Reset statistics: you can clear all accumulated scan data at any time (charts, geography, devices, history). The counter on the card resets to zero. This cannot be undone.

For QR codes in a workspace, only workspace administrators can reset statistics; for personal QR codes, the owner can.

Changing the content type

The current dynamic QR content and uploaded files (images, PDF, video, etc.) are permanently removed after you save the new type.

Clearing full statistics and analytics for the QR code (scan history, charts, geography, etc.) and resetting the scan counter is possible only if you enable the checkbox Delete statistics and analytics for this QR code when changing type on this step. By default it is off — statistics are kept.

Are there character limits for QR codes?

The QR code standard supports up to several thousand characters depending on data type. More data means a denser, more complex code.

Recommendations:

  • For long URLs use WebQR short links (available in the dashboard)
  • For large texts or files — create a dynamic QR with PDF, image, or link type
  • WebQR automatically selects the optimal QR version for best scanning
Why do I need to verify my email?

For security and to prevent abuse, there is no access to the cabinet until your email is confirmed. Immediately after registration you only get the verification flow — dashboard sections, saving QR codes to your account, folders, short links and other cabinet features are unavailable until you confirm your address. The public QR create page on the website (no login) remains available.

Confirm your address using the link in the email or the six-digit code on the verification page. After confirmation, the full cabinet opens and your limits follow your subscription plan.

Plans and Pricing

How does the payment system work?

Monthly and yearly subscriptions are available (yearly — pay for 10 months, 2 months free).

Payment: bank cards (Visa, Mastercard) via Stripe.

Security: payment data is processed by Stripe; we do not store your card data on our server.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription in the dashboard under Subscription. Cancellation is possible at any time without penalties:

  • Instant cancellation — via dashboard or support
  • Access retained — until end of paid period
  • Auto-renewal — disabled upon cancellation

Important to know:

  • No refunds for unused period
  • After the period ends, access to premium features stops
  • If subscription (Premium, Business or Business Plus) is not renewed within 30 days — QR codes, short links and storage data exceeding the limit will be blocked and deleted after 30 days
  • You can renew your subscription at any time
Is there a Starter plan?

Yes. You can use the service on the Starter plan with basic limits.

If you need more features (more QR codes, analytics, storage, etc.) — upgrade to a paid plan.

How do folder limits work? Which plan limits apply?

The number of folders depends on your plan. There is one shared quota for the account owner: it includes QR folders, design folders, and short-link folders in your personal account, plus QR folders and short-link folders in all workspaces you own (active workspaces only) — the same principle as the total QR-code limit.

Maximum folders (total) by plan:

  • Starter — 25
  • Premium — 500
  • Business — 1,500
  • Business Plus — 3,000

Workspaces (Business / Business Plus): the limit is not per workspace — you cannot get another full allowance in each space. Folders created in a workspace by invited members count against the owner’s quota. Design folders exist only in the personal account but still count toward this same total for the owner.

If you reach the limit, free space by deleting folders you no longer need or upgrade your plan.

How does renewal work?

The subscription renews automatically at the end of the paid period (month or year). You can cancel auto-renewal at any time — the current paid period remains active until the end date.

What happens when switching between periods (month ⇄ year)?
  • Yearly → monthly: nothing is charged now. Access remains until the end of the paid year. First monthly payment — when that year ends. After that, the subscription renews monthly.
  • Monthly → yearly: full year payment is charged immediately; remaining days of the current month are preserved. The subscription switches to yearly, next payment — in one year.
What happens when switching between plan tiers?
  • Upgrade (e.g. Premium → Business or Business → Business Plus): discount for unused days of current subscription; the plan card shows the final amount.
  • Downgrade (e.g. Business → Premium): new plan is paid in full, no discount for remaining days. Current subscription is cancelled, new one starts at payment.
  • After downgrading, QR codes, short links and storage data exceeding the new plan limit will be blocked for 30 days, then deleted.
What is “Uploads to library” and how does it work?

In the QR designer you can add a logo and a loading-screen image (shown while a dynamic QR page opens).

On the Starter plan, uploaded files are tied to that QR only: they are not saved to your personal library and do not appear in a list to reuse in other codes.

On paid plans (Premium, Business, Business Plus), when “Uploads to library” is enabled in settings, files are stored in your library: you see lists of logos and loading images and can pick them again for new codes. The number of items is limited separately for logos and for loading images (limits are shown in settings).

You can turn off saving to the library for each type — then files are only used in the current QR and are not added to your library list.

Currency and security

Prices are in USD. Payments are processed securely via Stripe — card data is not stored on our server.
